Some years ago I discovered my love for the drumset and started learning and practising it. Mair Andreas, drummer of the Beatstreet Band, has taught me the basic techniques of drumming for two years.

I like the music from the Gregorian chants to the music of the 20th century.
Highlights from my LP/CD - collection:
I am deeply fascinated of the english choirs (men and boys), like the "Choir of Westminster Abbey", "Westminster Cathedral Choir", "St.Paul´s Cathedral Choir", "Christ Church Cathedral Choir", "St. John´s Choir", "King´s College Choir", u.a. It is almost incredible what those boys are able to sing.
Anton Bruckner´s Symphony Nr V und Schubert´s
"Unfinished" in the Brucknerhaus in Linz, a lot of Verdi-operas
in the arena of Verona (Aida (many timesl), Nabucco, I Lombardi..,. Verdi-operas
in Lienz (Rigoletto, Troubadour), Canadian Brass Ensemble, Concerts
for organ and trumpet, Ensemble Pro Brass (fantastic concerts in
OÖ, Lienz, Villgraten, Finkenstein).
And the last concert, seen and heard in March 2002 in Abano in the church
of "San Cuore", was really one highlight in my life so far.
The "Shippensburg University Madrigal Singers",
a madrigal choir from Pennsylvania, USA, performed songs of Mozart, Vivaldi,
Spiritals and contemporary literature in a way that I can hardly find words
to describe (nevertheless I try it):
A crystal clear, pristine, veriest dynamic and sentimental performance
that was utmost moving and evocative for me.
And all this done by students aged around 20, who are not students of music
but of other subjects.
It's hardly believable what big thing the conductor Professor Dr. Blaine
Shover makes and made of these voices:
a homogenous choir on very very high level.
(I hope to dig a foto up of this sensational choir, which I integrate in here
then).

Austrian folkmusic
It´s difficult for me to explain Austrian Folkmusic to foreign people: On the one hand there is the old traditional folkmusic which is being performed mostly without any amplifiers, using instruments as Zither, Hackbrett, stringbass, guitar, etc. and on the other hand there is the commercial folkmusic for people who want to be entertained at these special Austrian folk festivals with the so-called Oberkrainer sound (baritone, rhythm guitar, clarinet, trumpet and accordeon)
I have been an active musician (especially doing the Oberkrainersound for almost a decade) and me my comrades enjoyed playing that music which also meant a lot of fun to our audience. I don´t want to miss the time from 1985 to 1987 being a member of the "Deferegger Trio" (see below), and from 1989 to 1994 playing the accordeon and the keyboards in the band "Tauernwind", a popular group for various musical events, as weddings, etc. . There are still groups worth mentioning who have been playing this kind of music excellently for years thus entertaining many people very successfully. Let me mention the Original Oberkrainer, the Alpenoberkrainer, the Mooskirchner, the Grazer Spatzen, the Goldried Quintett, the Gurktaler Musikanten, and I think of many more.
My first ensemble: Foto: Bergbauer v.l.: Peter, Andreas and me |
In the year 1990 Tauernwind recorderd their
one and only record called "Sonnenaufgang" The downloadable extracts, which are parts of songs that I composed and arranged can be played back on an mp3-player. |

Hi guys! Let me greet you all this way! |
Of course I also like the socalled "real folkmusic" for special occasions, like the Christmas season. Let me mention a CD-recording containing that kind of music."Volksmusik aus Osttirol" (that´s the title of this production) on initiative of Hubert Kobler, a real expert who often presents folkmusic on the ORF-Radio Tyrol.
